Data, analysis and custom tools, as a project or on an ongoing basis

Every engagement starts with a short scoping memo that pins down what you need to know, what you already have and when you need it. Projects are scoped and priced individually; ongoing work runs on a monthly retainer.

Data solutions and dashboards

The problem. The data exists, but it is spread across spreadsheets, exports and systems that do not talk to each other, and the numbers people need take days to assemble.

What we build. Pipelines that bring the data together and keep it clean, with every step documented. Dashboards, scenario tools, maps and recurring reports built around the decisions they serve, not around the data that happened to be available.

What you keep.

  • A documented, reproducible pipeline from raw data to the finished numbers
  • Dashboards and tools built on open-source software, so there is no license to buy
  • Delivery in open formats that still open in Excel, Power BI, ArcGIS and Stata
  • AI built into the pipeline where it is the right tool for a step, such as extracting and classifying information from documents, with checks on what it produces
  • Handover and written documentation, so your team can run it without us

Ongoing analysis

The problem. The same questions come back every month, and the team that asks them does not yet have a senior analyst to own the answers.

How it works. A monthly retainer. We keep your reports, forecasts and dashboards current, answer the questions that come up between them, review your team’s analysis, and step in when something new lands. Both partners know your account, so the work never waits on one person.

Bespoke projects

The problem. A question you have not had to answer before, with money riding on the answer.

What we do. We design the study for the decision, estimate the model properly and state how sure we are. Typical work includes:

  • Pricing and willingness-to-pay research, using choice and incentivized experiments rather than surveys alone
  • Demand, cost and economic or fiscal impact models
  • Forecasts with honest ranges
  • Evaluations of whether a program, price change or policy actually worked
  • Custom tools for problems off-the-shelf software does not solve

We use AI in our own work and recommend it when it is the best answer to your problem, run locally when the data is confidential. When it is not the best answer, we say so.

Every project ends in a written recommendation with the uncertainty stated, plus the code and data behind it.

How to buy

  1. Directly — a scoped project, time and materials, or a monthly retainer.
  2. Through a bid or RFQ — we respond to solicitations.
  3. Through a university partner — the university is the prime and we are its subcontractor, where that route fits the client better.
  4. As a subcontractor to a private prime — economic-consulting, advisory and engineering firms.

Not sure which of these you need? That is a normal place to start. Tell us the decision and we will say so.
