Brian is a PhD economist and data scientist with peer-reviewed publications in journals including Experimental Economics. He builds statistical models of how people decide under risk and uncertainty, and the software that puts those models to work. Over more than a decade of research and applied work on three continents, he has developed data pipelines, survey and experiment platforms, and decision models for banks, retailers, government agencies, development institutions and universities.
He writes his own tools, from GPU-accelerated Bayesian estimation software to systems built on large language models: AI pipelines that sort and assess large volumes of information, and agents that operate design software and write and test code under supervision.
He has taught risk assessment and data programming, including machine learning, at undergraduate and graduate level. His PhD in economics is from the University of Cape Town.
